Is a GIA certificate better than a EGL certificate?
The GIA introduced the modern diamond grading system over 50 years ago.They were the first national grading lab, and to this day are considered the best.They are a "Not For Profit" corporation that puts any excess revenue back into its enormous educational complex.The EGL (European Gem Lab) started about 30 years ago.They are harder to define in terms of accuracy as they are basically a franchise. The three labs in the USA label their certificates EGL-USA. They tend to be more accurate than the overseas laboratories.
In the Windsor Diamonds search engine we have approximatly 25,000 diamonds all of which are GIA.If we were dealing with you directly we could examine EGL graded diamonds and pick out the well graded ones.Since you are ordering online we limit the selection to GIA certified diamonds that are almost always accuratly graded.Remember that diamonds are graded by human beings.Even the GIA has degees of accuracy.
